On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, cocoa farmers in Abengourou organized a demonstration to demand the return of the sum of two million FCFA that was promised to each cooperative.

A sum of 17 billion is made available to stakeholders in the sector through the Emergency Support Programme for Agricultural Wings (PURGA) who were affected during the Covid-19 pandemic. Indeed, according to Aduo Epono Martin, Vice-President of the Collective of Agricultural Unions in charge of the East, so far, in the region of Undenié-Djuablin, “less than 30% of cooperatives have received money.”

Thus, following the “sterile” discussions with the head of the regional delegation of the Café-Cacao Council, all farmers are called upon to remain mobilized & eacute; s in order to be able to require compliance with the Covid fund distribution key.

The College of Agricultural Unions of Côte d'Ivoire announced on June 30 an unlimited strike starting on August 3 to demand full payment of two million FCFA. To this end, a tripartite committee was created between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Café-Cacao Council and the College of Agricultural Unions of Côte d'Ivoire to ensure the monitoring and evaluation of the distribution operation. They therefore demand strict compliance with the distribution key adopted in the General Assembly by organizations of coffee and cocoa producers, such as 40% cooperatives, 35% unions and associations, and then 25% of individual producers.
