With the launch of eNaira this Monday, October 25, 2021, Nigeria is embarking on the adventure of cryptomonaies. With this currency, the first economy in Africa will see its GDP increase by 29 billion USD in 10 years.

Nigeria launches eNaira and positions itself as the first country to officially implement a state digital currency. Now, Nigerians can download a digital wallet to start using e-Naira. This digital wallet that will allow them to pay in certain stores and exchange money faster, at a lower cost. A way for the country's central bank to try to regain control, as more and more Nigerians are starting to take an interest in bitcoin.

"We have become the first country in Africa and one of the first in the world to introduce a digital currency for our citizens", boasted the Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, recalling that "the new payment system of the digital currency, which took four years to crystallize, will promote financial inclusion”. He clarified that the eNaira, will serve as the backbone of electronic payment in Nigeria and will also enable the movement of more people from the informal to the formal sector, thereby increasing the country's tax base. According to Muhammadu Buhari, the digital currency will increase the country's GDP by USD 29 billion over the next 10 years.
