POA Internet, a Nairobi-based Internet service provider announced on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, that it had secured $4 million in funding.

The Internet access provider, the fourth largest operator in the Kenyan market with over 238,000 subscribers, wants to strengthen its broadband offer in Kenya. This funding from Finnfund comes at a time when the country has 40.8% Internet penetration, a rate higher than the African average but still far from global standards

.

The new capital will be used to expand Poa's network, with fiber infrastructure provided by Nokia, allowing the company to reach more homes and small businesses.

POA Internet has built its business around offering low-cost fixed broadband Internet access to households and small businesses that cannot afford traditional Internet services.

FinnFund is an impact investor whose main shareholder is the Finnish State (96.60%) and the Finnish Export Credit Agency (3.34%).

“This new investment, supported by the European Union and the European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus, underscores our commitment to driving digital inclusion and economic growth across the continent,” said Kelvin Kiiru, Investment Associate at Finnfund.
