The State of Burkina Faso has obtained support from Vista Bank in the acquisition of buses for the benefit of the Société de Transport en Commun (SOTRACO). The delivery of the keys to a first batch of 155 buses took place under the presidency of Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo on Monday, August 11,

2025.

The 155 buses delivered are the first delivery of a total of 500 planned buses, whose financing, jointly provided by the State and Vista Bank, amounts to more than 44.865 billion CFA francs. This acquisition aims to improve the mobility of pupils, students and, more generally, of all Burkinabè people. Prime Minister Emmanuel Ouedraogo said that “this is only the first batch of nearly 155 buses. By the end of the year, probably around October, the rest, more than 300 buses, should be delivered. This is a historic acquisition! Since its creation, SOTRACO has never had such a large fleet in terms of number of buses. These are quality vehicles, which means that today, SOTRACO is reaching a new level.” The delivery was made as part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education, which the President of Faso ordered the acquisition of 500 buses in order to facilitate the mobility of populations.

This acquisition was made possible thanks to the financial support of Vista Bank. For Marc Giugni, CEO of Société Générale style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, serif"> from Burkina Faso (SGBF), a member of the Vista Group, “the overall financing amounts to 44,865,000,000 francs. CFA. For us, education is the key to development. We know the difficulties that many students and students face in getting to school. It is therefore natural that we have chosen to support this initiative, which is part of a vision of sustainable development for Burkina Faso.”
