On Friday, August 8, 2025, the General Delegate for Rapid Entrepreneurship for Women and Youth (DER/FJ), Aïssatou Mbodji, received forty hydroelectric trucks at Mole 4 of the Autonomous Port of Dakar.

The trucks received by the DER/FJ are intended to strengthen the operational capacities of members of the Association of Senegalese Sanitation Actors (AAAS). These trucks are acquired as part of a tripartite partnership between (DER/FJ), the Fondation Bill et Melinda Gates and the National Bank for Economic Development (BNDE), thanks to financing of 2.4 billion CFA francs. This provision of new vehicles is part of the implementation of the Project to Support the Renewal of the Fuel Truck Fleet (PARC)

According to the General Delegate, “this modern equipment, received on the eve of Grand Magal in Touba, is timely. For the latter, these trucks will make it possible to relieve populations and improve their living environment, especially in the areas most exposed to the risk of flooding.

She considers that this initiative is beneficial for local authorities, seeing it as “a concrete, effective and innovative response to the sanitation challenges faced by our cities and municipalities”.
