African Trade and Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI) has approved a counter-guarantee of 84 million dollars. It aims to support the issuance of bonds and guarantees for the construction of the new international airport in Rwanda, located in the district of Bugesera

The project is an essential infrastructure that will accelerate the achievement of Vision 2050, the national development strategy. Its objective is to make Rwanda an upper middle income country by 2035 and a high-income economy by 2050. This transaction is part of ATIDI's strategy to enable its member states to make transformative and high-impact investments that stimulate growth, sustainability and regional integration

ATIDI plans to allow three Rwandan banks and a regional bank to issue bonds and guarantees, for a total amount of over 323 million dollars. The guarantees will be issued in favor of a consortium of three companies that have obtained the contract for the construction of the new Bugesera International Airport in Rwanda. This historic project will make Rwanda a strategic hub for trade and logistics in Africa.
