On Friday, July 4, 2025, Equatorial Guinea filed a request to the International Court of Justice for confiscation of a mansion by France.

Guinea claims that French police recently entered the building and changed the locks without diplomatic authorization. The country asks the ICJ to order precautionary measures, namely: France should neither sell the property nor prevent access to its representatives, considering that the building is for diplomatic use

.

As a reminder, this luxurious mansion located on Avenue Foch, in Paris, had been seized by the French authorities as part of the conviction of Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, Vice President of Equatorial Guinea, in 2021 to three years in suspended prison and 30 million euros in prison ; fine for money laundering, embezzlement of public funds and abuse of social assets
