The official site of S&P Global Ratings announced that the rating agency raised Togo's sovereign rating from 'B' to 'B+' on Friday 18 April, from 'B' to 'B+', with a stable outlook.

S&P takes a decision that reflects the progress of fiscal and economic reforms undertaken by the country, in a context of sustained growth and the gradual rebalancing of public finances. According to S&P projections, the Togolese economy should grow by an average of 6% per year between 2025 and 2028, a pace considered to be higher than that of countries with a comparable level of development. In 2025, Togo secured a loan of 200 million dollars from the World Bank and plans to conclude two additional commercial loans totalling 350 million euros, backed by guarantees provided by multilateral institutions, including the African Development Bank
