Dans le but de déployer des hundreds of renewable energy mini-grids, Nigeria has reached a $200 million deal with WeLight.

WeLight is a pan-African company specializing in distributed renewable energies (ERD). Renewable energy mini-grids aim to provide reliable electricity to millions of people in rural communities and those located near urban centers. Nigeria sought to increase the share of renewable energies in its electricity mix from 22% to 50%. The country has obtained private funding for this purpose. His project is supported by the African Development Bank and the World Bank. It will develop and operate 400 mini-grids and 50 metropolitan networks in mainly rural areas of Nigeria, in order to improve access to electricity for around 1.5 to 2 million people and to stimulate local economies

WeLight said on Monday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nigeria Rural Electrification Agency (REA), a government agency responsible for helping millions of Nigerians who lack access to electricity.
