A l' occasion de la COP29 in Baku, the Ivorian Minister of Water and Forests announced that he had obtained financing of 100 billion CFA francs from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This funding will be used to restore Ivorian forest cover

The EIB envelope will enable Côte d'Ivoire to accelerate the implementation of its ambitious reforestation programme. The funds will be used to support various actions, such as planting trees, restoring degraded forest ecosystems, raising awareness among local populations and creating green jobs. According to the Vice President of the EIB, Ambroise Fayole, this financing is part of a wider partnership aimed at supporting sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa. Côte d'Ivoire has set itself the goal of restoring 20% of its forest cover by 2030. Thus, this financing from the EIB, and that obtained from the World Bank, is a major step forward towards the achievement of this ambitious objective.
