On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the Montréal Exchange (MX) and the Regional Stock Exchange (Brvm) signed a memorandum of understanding, in the presence of the President of the Senate of Côte d'Ivoire, Kandia Camara and the Honourable Raymonde Gagné, pr& President of the Senate of Canada. This agreement is part of the aim of implementing actions aimed at creating a derivatives market within UEMOA

The memorandum of understanding signed between the MX and the BRVM concerns technical assistance from the Montréal Exchange through the development of the regulatory framework for the new market; advice on the establishment of the various entities in particular the Stock Exchange and the clearing house; support in technological choices and the training of BRVM teams; and those of the regional financial market ecosystem. The Brvm derivatives market that will be established will contribute to better management of risks associated with price fluctuations; to the improvement of the valuation of underlying securities and to the improvement of market liquidity
