The BRVM, which is the stock exchange common to the eight member countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) and which is based in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire, noted the increase in its composite index during a conference devoted to the presentation of its balance sheet for the year 2023. According to him, this increase allowed it to rank in the Top 5 African stock exchanges, despite a decrease of 43.29% in funds raised through financial transactions and 45.25% in sovereign issues on the primary market compared to the year 2022. Over the past two decades, the BRVM composite index has increased by 144.44%
