The Director General of the Central Depositary/Settlement Bank of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) announced on Thursday January 18 that centralized custody of securities reached 19,140 billion CFA francs at the end of 2023, against 17,861 billion CFA francs in 2022, or an increase of 7.16%

The Director General of the Central Depositary/Settlement Bank, Birahim Diouf presented the 2023 balance sheet of the institution's activities and its 2024 prospects during the annual meeting with regional financial market players in the new DC/ headquarters BR in Abidjan-Plateau. It appears from this balance sheet that the DC/BR distributed a total amount of 1 929 billion FCFA in 2023 against 1 497 billion FCFA in 2022, for the payment of dividends, interests and the reimbursement of the capital of bonds, i.e. an increase of 28.83%.

For the prospects of 2024, the DC/BR plans to develop a comprehensive product offering for the financial ecosystem, based on Swift standards. In reality, he will be in charge of finalizing the digitization of public offering transactions for savings, and continuing the codification of

financial instruments.
