An Equity BCDC delegation announced on Saturday, September 2, at the provincial assembly office that the bank is asking the provincial government of Kasaï-Oriental to repay the loan estimated at 291,000 USD, or 700 million Congolese francs.

The Equity BCDC delegation indicated that the loan to be repaid by the provincial government of Kasaï-Oriental was contracted since June 24 by the provincial governor who, to date, has been indicted by the legislative body. Kizito Mfunyi, the interim president of the Kasaï-Oriental Provincial Assembly, Kizito Mfunyi reiterated the province's decision, transmitted to Equity BCDC in the correspondence of August 30 last year. In this letter, the Provincial Assembly referred to the provisions of article 40; paragraph 1 of Act No. 08/12 of 31/07/2008 and article 187 (1) of the rules of procedure of the Provincial Assembly, which state that “ the issuance of a loan and the signing of a loan agreement are acts for which the provincial government must obtain authorization Preliminary of the provincial assembly”.

The bank promised to show off the loan agreement letter signed by the former speaker of the provincial assembly this week.
