A workshop to jointly launch the activities of the National Committee for Monitoring the Fiscal Transition Program (CNPTF), and the National Committee for the Evaluation of Fiscal Expenditures (CONEDEF) was organized on March 16, 2023, in Lomé by the Unit of Fiscal Policy (UPF) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The overall mission of the CNPTF and CONEDEF is to improve the technical framework for the optimal mobilization of national resources for the financing of development projects, and to ensure adequate management of the country's financial resources, for inclusive growth and sustainable, with a view to the well-being of populations. The activities were officially launched on the 16th and are part of the implementation of the decision taken by the member States of UEMOA by Togo in 2006 concerning the program of tax transition. According to the director of the Tax Policy Unit (UPF), Délalom Koffi Ahiakpor, this decision enshrines the gradual transfer of door-to-domestic taxation, in accordance with the principles of financial transition. This is reflected in a gradual reduction in the amounts of customs duties collected, and in a substantial increase in taxes collected within the states.
