In 2022, growth in Guinea-Bissau slowed due to poor yields in the cashew season. Indeed, a report was published by the World Bank on its website on Friday, February 17, mentioning that Guinea-Bissau's GDP growth is expected to increase to 4.5% in 2023, supported by the country's agricultural performance according to the institution's forecast.

This year, Guinea-Bissau's production should export well thanks to improved conditions. The Bank's forecast represents an increase of 1 point compared to last year's growth rate (2022). Growth in 2023 is expected to be supported by agriculture, especially a strong 2023 cashew season, followed by a good export performance. According to the Bank, “the performance of cashew nut exports has suffered, as have domestic revenues, and the budget deficit (including grants) has fallen slightly, from 5.6% in 2021 to 5.5%. Despite continued infrastructure investments in 2022, low export volumes caused total revenues to fall from 19.6% of GDP in 2021 to 16% in 2022.”
