The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), meeting on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, approved several funding agreements.

A loan of 166.36 million euros (108.96 billion FCFA) has been approved in Senegal as part of the financing of the construction of the Dakar-Tivaouane-Saint Louis highway, which will open up the northern regions of the country. A project that “will help to open up the northern regions, considered to be the rice basket of Senegal and which is also an area with high mining potential. It will contribute to the implementation of the Government's strategy, which aims to transform agricultural products by substantially reducing their delivery costs,” according to Marie-Laure Akin-Olugbade, Director General of the African Development Bank.

Through the Sustainable Energy Fund in Africa (SEFA), its investment vehicle, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has granted a $1 million loan to the renewable energy developer, NewAfrica Impact. With this support, the company will develop a project to build bioenergy plants in Sierra Leone and Ghana. It will also support the bankability of the project, but also allow feasibility studies and regulatory structuring.

the ADB Group Board of Directors has also given the green light to the interim country strategy. It is aligned with the country's national development framework, namely, the National Economic and Social Development Plan (PNDES, 2021-2025) and the Transition Action Plan (PAT, 2022 - 2025). This document was drawn up in a context of extreme fragility in the country.
