After its extraordinary general meeting held on Monday, November 21, 2022 in Bouskoura (Casablanca), of the Bar Council decided to continue all forms of protest, including the resort to strike. They are outraged against the rejection of the agreement reached between the Moroccan Bar Association and the government concerning the tax provisions relating to the income tax of lawyers provided for in the 2023 Finance Bill.

The Casablanca Bar rejects the agreement reached on November 15 between the Moroccan Bar Association and the government. This agreement concerns the reduction of the income tax on lawyers provided for in the 2023 Finance Bill. With this action, the Casablanca Bar Council announced its intention to launch an escalation program in protest against the 2023 Finance Bill and the preliminary draft law regulating the legal profession. According to professionals in the sector, this constitutes systematic targeting and is marked by an absence of the participatory approach.

Note that the lawyers organized a series of demonstrations in Rabat and sit-ins outside the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice to denounce the draft bill on their profession.
