As part of the program to improve fundamental accounting and financial management skills (FASE), the World Bank plans to carry out a mission to Senegal this week. This program is a response to the accounting skills deficit in Africa in the five (5) French-speaking African countries, namely Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal.

The capacity to ensure effective public service delivery and private sector development is limited in Africa due to a lack of basic to intermediate accounting skills. Faced with this state of affairs, the countries of the continent are constantly looking for new engines of sustained and inclusive growth. This is in order to end poverty and build resilient economies.

For this reason, “the Basic Accounting and Financial Management Skills (FASE) program focuses on accounting and finance. And there are two years of training, namely the theoretical and practical one. Accountants are at the private, public, organizational and administrative levels. With this program, we will improve financial information”, explains the representative of the World Bank, Lefaria Kinimi.
