Merchandise exports from the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) to Asia increased from 2022 to 2021. They go from 18.5% to 20.7%.

By country, sales are mainly aimed at India and China according to information from the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO). In fact, the relative weights for each country were 5.3% for India and 3.5% for China respectively in 2021. Thus, exports to the Asian continent consist mainly of cashew nuts (21.7%), rubber (11.2%), cocoa (11.9%), cotton (20.9%), gold (8.9%), peanut products (4.1%) and chemicals (6.8%).

Chemicals, gold, and cashew are primarily shipped to India, with respective shares of 27.1%, 26.4%, and 21.2% of total foreign sales of these products. In this continent, cotton is sold mainly to Pakistan (13.5%) and China (6.3%).
